uPVC, Sustainable, Material, Prevent Heat Loss

uPVC ... the amazing sustainable window material

One of the main environmental impacts of windows is the constant heat loss or gain through them. So you need to choose a window that will cut energy wastage. uPVC windows frames are more thermally efficient than wood or aluminium so they seriously reduce energy loss and tolerate extreme weather conditions. What's more, uPVC can be recycled again and again which means it's a really sustainable window frame material.

What is uPVC?
uPVC is 57% chlorine (from salt), 43% ethylene from mineral oil or renewable vegetable oil, so it's manufactured in a sustainable way. By the way, PVC means "poly vinyl chloride" and the lower case "u" in uPVC means unplasticised or rigid PVC. So your uPVC window frames have a siginificantly lower level of whole-life costs than metal and wood windows and all uPVC windows are desgned to be double glazed so there's no argument about their energy efficiency.

Where they are used

In the UK, uPVC windows are now used in more that 85% of all building and refurbishment projects. We have been manufacturing them here in Australia since 1985. Our customers (now more than 10,000) tell us after experiencing the calm comfort and insulation they would never go back to inefficient, uninsulated, drafty homes ... there are millions of these in Australia ... make sure you don't build one ... it's so easy to have a really sustainable home. Just ask us how.
